3240 epoxy glass fiber laminate, generally known as FR4 epoxy glass fiber laminate in the electronics industry, is often referred to as EPGC202 epoxy glass fiber laminate in the aerospace industry, and G10 epoxy glass fiber laminate in European and American countries.
This still sounds vague, let me go on. This is a naming rule involving different countries. For example, 3240 is the Chinese name, fr4 is the IEC naming standard, epgc202 and g10 are the naming standards for European and American countries, and epgc202 and g10 are the popular names in the aviation and electronics industries respectively.

1. A brief introduction to naming standards
China: 3240 is the national plate number, according to JB-T 2197-1996 electrical insulating material product classification, naming, and model preparation method:
3240 Four Arabic numerals
The first 3 represent laminated products, coiled products, vacuum pressure dipped products
The second 2 represent inorganic substrate laminates
The third digit 4 represents the temperature index level of 155 degrees
The fourth digit 0 represents the product variety code

2.Laminate parameter table

NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association): FR in FR4 material stands for flame retardant. Number 4 is a material that is different from other materials of the same kind. FR4 uses epoxy or modified epoxy resin as a binder and glass fiber cloth as a kind of reinforcing material, that is to say, as long as the material using this system can be called FR4, There is no standard corresponding to it in China. The closest standard is a 3240 epoxy laminated glass cloth board. The IEC International Electrotechnical Commission standard corresponding to 3240 is EPGC201, and there is only a difference in flame retardant performance between EPGC201 and EPGC202. Therefore, it can be simply considered that FR-4 is an improved product of 3240 with enhanced flame retardant properties.

3. Introduction of Fr4

After talking about the naming rules, let's talk about this material of fr4 here。The fr4 epoxy board is a plate-shaped insulating material made of glass fiber cloth soaked with epoxy resin as an adhesive, dried, and hot-pressed. It has high mechanical properties, water absorption, flame retardancy, and heat resistance, and has stable dielectric properties after water immersion. Density: 1.9~2.0g/cm3 Temperature resistance: 130℃ Insulation class: Class B. The mechanical properties, dimensional stability, impact resistance, and moisture resistance of fr4 insulating boards are higher than those of paper substrates. It has excellent electrical performance, and high operating temperature, and its performance is less affected by the environment. In terms of processing technology, it has great advantages over other resin glass fiber cloth substrates. Compared with 3240 yellow, FR4 is available in white, yellow, water green, and black colors, and the surface is smooth and smooth without bubbles, and the appearance is beautiful.



Fire rating: UL94V0, the highest fire rating. After the material passes through the burning state, it can self-extinguish in a short time, escorting the safety of life and property. 

Strong insulation: FR-4's natural insulation performance is extremely strong, and its electrical performance is still very good in dry and wet states.

High-quality and practical: FR4 still has good adaptability in the face of different environments.
